If you are an experienced editor, you probably know all the available ways to optimize work,\u00a0 Premiere Pro and all sorts of life hacks. Then you can skip this article. But this article can be useful for those who are just starting their path as an editor and do not yet know all the intricacies of optimization and workflow.<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Playback Resolution.<\/strong>
    \nSet the playback resolution at 1\/4. This will allow you to play clips much faster when you are working with high quality footage.<\/li>\n
  2. Hight Quality Playback.<\/strong>
    \nUncheck the Hight Quality Playback option. Since during the editing process you do not need to regularly playback videos in maximum quality.<\/li>\n
  3. Global FX Mute.<\/strong>
    \nUsing this option can be indispensable when editing and using a variety of transitions or effects. Allows you to turn off all effects on the timeline in one click and playback the entire timeline smoothly.<\/li>\n
  4. Proxies.<\/strong>
    \nUse proxies. Using low resolution duplicates of your high quality footage will make your editing process much faster and more productive.<\/li>\n
  5. GPU acceleration renderer (CUDA, Metal, OpenCL).<\/strong>
    \nUsing GPU acceleration in the renderer settings will allow you to playback and render videos faster. The higher the render engine is in the list, the faster the render will be.<\/li>\n
  6. Optimize rendering for “Performance”.<\/strong>
    \nMake sure that the “Optimize rendering for” setting is set to “Performance” (Edit > Preferences > Memory tab).<\/li>\n
  7. Allocate enought memory to Premiere Pro.<\/strong>
    \nAllocate the maximum available amount of memory for Premier Pro and reduce to the minimum possible for the rest of the programs (Edit > Preferences > Memory tab).<\/li>\n
  8. Media Cache.<\/strong>
    \nChange the default location for the media cache to a different drive that you have on your computer. This will allow your operating system and media cache to have better read and write performance.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
