Use Case 29
How and when to use Water Transitions
Key content from the use case video
The water transition is one the specialised case transition categories that mimic the free movement of water in applying a transition between 2 clips of footage. Naturally, this means the water transition lends itself well to water related activities and footage.
In this example we are going to create an action sequence of water sports and apply the water transition between the clips. The water transition lets the view stay within the water theme, thereby creating a greater connection to the story.
So, feel free to use the water transition for your water action sports, a rainy day setting or just plain sailing on the big ocean. It will make your story more realistic and get the viewer to enjoy more of the story
As with any creative video transition be sure not to overdose the water transition by using all the variations available in the category within the same composition. My advice is for you to choose just one or two water transition variations and then use them with a bit of caution, making sure you don’t over use this transition. This will look far more professional.
